Mewar University has the unique distinction of being the only University in the District of Chittorgarh (Rajasthan). The University fills up the void in the field of higher, technical and vocational education in the Mewar region which, in spite of being rich in terms of agriculture, industrial and business growth, has lagged behind in education as compared to the peer districts like Udaipur, Ajmer and Jaipur.

The University campus is situated in the lap of outcrops of the scenic Aravali ranges and spread over sprawling 30 acres (120,000 m2) at Gangrar of Chittorgarh District (Rajasthan), just 12 km away from the city of Chittorgarh. The campus can be easily approached by road and railway network as it is situated on NH 79 (Delhi-Mumbai Highway) and connected with all the major cities through broad-gauge railway lines, road and airways. The nearest airport is Dabok (Udaipur), which is 100 km away from the campus.

The campus is divided into various functional zones like Academic and Administrative Block, Hostels and Residential complex for faculty and staff covering an area of more than 200,000 sq ft (19,000 m2). It has co-educational facilities with separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls. Besides academics, the well laid campus provides all facilities for cultural, recreation and sports activities.
